Eden Brent The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is pleased to invite the Egyptian public and press to a live webchat with Eden Brent on March 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm Cairo time.

Eden Brent will perform in BLUZAPALOOZA, a blues concert on Friday, March 27, 2009, at 8:00 pm, at the Open Theater of the Cairo Opera House. The concert is free and open to the public.

Eden Brent, along with Billy Gibson and the Memphis-based blues band Delta Highway, are in Cairo at the invitation of U.S. Ambassador to Egypt and native of Memphis, Tennessee, Margaret Scobey. BLUZAPALOOZA will bring to Cairo the music of Memphis and its famous Beale Street, a place synonymous with the blues tradition in the United States.

Eden Brent is a four-time Blues Music Award nominee. She is known for her piano playing and strong voice. With a vast repertoire of original and standard blues songs, Ms. Brent is one of the busiest blues artists in the country today performing throughout the United States and around the globe. She appears at festivals, concerts and clubs and organizes workshops and educational performances for virtually every age and proficiency level.

She looks forward to discussing blues and her upcoming performance in Cairo.

The event is open to the public. Questions from the public and the media are welcome and may be posted in advance.

Ms. Scobey, a career Foreign Service officer at the rank of Minister-Counselor, was nominated on January 23, 2008 to serve as Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and confirmed by the Senate on March 14.

Alison Dilworth Wednesday, June 25th at 2:00 pm. Chief of American Citizen Services at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo Alison E. Dilworth to Discuss how Americans vote overseas in a Webchat

This chat will discuss voter outreach efforts in Egypt and around the world, especially the role of technology in creating the possibility for greater civic participation by U.S. citizens across the globe. It is estimated that 6 million U.S. citizens residing outside the United States, including 35,000 in Egypt, are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election. Ms. Dilworth will also be able to give practical information on registration deadlines and how to request an absentee ballot.

Alison Dilworth is currently serving as the American Citizen Services Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. A fifth-tour officer from Illinois, Alison joined the State Department in 1997. She has served as a Consular Officer in Asuncion, Paraguay and in Jerusalem. From 2006-2007 she served as the Special Assistant for Overseas Consular Services in the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Washington, DC.

Alison earned her Bachelor's Degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law.

تدعو السفارة الأمريكية بالقاهرة المواطنين الأمريكيين والمصريين المقيمين في مصر للمشاركة في حوار عبر الإنترنت مع السيدة أليسون ديلورث رئيس قسم خدمات الرعايا الأمريكيين بالسفارة حول المواطنين الأمريكيين بالخارج والتصويت والانتخابات الأمريكية، وذلك يوم الأربعاء الموافق 25 يونيو 2008 الساعة الثانية ظهرا بتوقيت القاهرة.

سيناقش الحوار وسائل تحصيل أصوات الأمريكيين في مصر والعالم، خاصة في ظل الدور الكبير الذي تلعبه التكنولوجيا في تيسير المشاركة المدنية للمواطنين الأمريكيين في جميع أنحاء العالم. يبلغ عدد الأمريكيين المقيمين خارج الولايات المتحدة والقادرين على الإدلاء بأصواتهم في الانتخابات الرئاسية 6 مليون مواطن، منهم 35000 مواطن أمريكي مقيم في مصر. كما ستقدم السيدة ديلورث المعلومات العملية عن المواعيد النهائية للتسجيل وكيفية الحصول على بطاقات الاقتراع الغيابي.

تعمل السيدة أليسون ديلورث كرئيس لقسم خدمات الرعايا الأمريكيين بالسفارة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، وهو المنصب الخامس لها في الخدمة بالخارج في وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية التي التحقت بها عام 1997. وعملت أليسون، القادمة من ولاية الينوي، كمسئول قنصلي في القدس واسنسيون بباراجواي. كما عملت كمساعد خاص للخدمات القنصلية الخارجية بمكتب الشئون القنصلية في واشنطن خلال الفترة من 2006 حتى 2007.

حصلت أليسون على شهادة البكالوريوس من كلية الخدمات الأجنبية بجامعة جورج تاون، كما حصلت على الدكتوراه في الحقوق بالجامعة الأمريكية بواشنطن.
