“Two Rivers, One World” project participants meet Dr. Atkinson at the U.S. Embassy.

Science and Technology Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State, Dr. George Atkinson, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday, December 13. The visit coincides with the U.S. and Egyptian government’s commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Joint Science and Technology Bilateral Agreement.

During his visit, Dr. Atkinson will meet with leading Egyptian scientists and officials, including the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, to discuss ways of furthering science and technology cooperation in the future.

Dr. Atkinson will recognize Egyptian and American participants in the “Two Rivers, One World” project. This project is a collaborative scientific effort between high school students from the U.S. and Egypt who have worked together to conduct and analyze water experiments concerning the Nile and Hudson Rivers.

The “Two Rivers, One World” project is part of the U.S.-Egypt Young Scientist Program, a joint project sponsored by the American Embassy and the Government of Egypt. The project is funded by the U.S.-Egypt Joint Science and Technology Board and is facilitated by the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN), a non-governmental organization that uses online project-based learning to connect educators and students from 112 countries.
