قامت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية بتسجيل وإخطار الفائزين بيناصيب التأشيرة المتنوعة لعام 2009. يبلغ عدد الفائزين من المتقدمين المصريين 4831 فائز يمكنهم الآن التقدم بطلب الحصول على تأشيرة هجرة. على الفائزين السير في إجراءات الحصول على تأشيرة الهجرة بسرعة واتباع التعليمات المبينة في خطاب الإخطار وإكمال البيانات المطلوبة. أثناء المقابلة الشخصية، على المتقدمين تقديم إثبات إكمال التعليم الثانوي أو ما يعادله، أو خبرة عامين من العمل في إحدى الوظائف التي تتطلب خبرة أو تدريب لمدة عامين على الأقل خلال الأعوام الخمسة الماضية.

تقدم يناصيب التأشيرة المتنوعة السنوية تأشيرات إقامة دائمة لعدد 50000 شخص من البلاد ذات معدل الهجرة المنخفض إلى الولايات المتحدة، ومنها مصر. تم اختيار الفائزين لعام 2009 على نحو عشوائي من بين 1ر9 مليون متقدم. كما تم توزيع التأشيرات على ست مناطق جغرافية بحد أقصى 7% أو 3500 تأشيرة للدولة الواحدة. وحيث إنه من الممكن ألا يسير بعض من ال3500 مصري المسجلين أولا في إجراءات الحصول على التأشيرة، فإن تسجيل عدد 4831 تم بهدف ضمان استخدام كافة التأشيرات المخصصة لمصر في عام 2009 وهي 3500 تأشيرة. وقد تم إخطار الفائزين فقط في برنامج عام 2009 عن طريق البريد، ولم يتم إرسال خطابات إخطار لغير الفائزين. ومن حق غير الفائزين الذين لم يتلقوا خطابات إخطار التقدم في برنامج عام 2010 الذي يبدأ التقدم له في 2 أكتوبر 2008 وتعلن نتيجته في خريف عام 2009.

The U.S. Department of State has registered and notified the winners of the 2009 diversity visa lottery. 4,831 Egyptian applicants have been registered and notified and may now make an application for an immigrant visa. Those selected will need to act on their immigrant visa applications quickly. Applicants should follow the instructions in their notification letter and must fully complete the information requested. During the visa interview, principal applicants must provide proof of a high school education or its equivalent, or show two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience within the past five years.

The annual diversity lottery offers 50,000 permanent resident visas to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States, including Egypt. Applicants registered for the 2009 diversity visa program were selected at random from over 9.1 million qualified entries. The visas have been apportioned among six geographic regions with a maximum of 7% or 3,500 visas available to any one country, including Egypt. Since it is likely that some of the first 3,500 Egyptians registered will not pursue their cases to visa issuance, the larger registration figure of 4,831 should ensure that all 3,500 DV-2009 numbers available to Egypt will be used during 2009. Only participants in the DV-2009 program who were selected were notified by mail. Those who have not received notification were not selected. They may try for the upcoming DV-2010 lottery if they wish. The application period for the DV-2010 lottery will begin on October 2, 2008 and results will be announced in the fall of 2009.
