Ambassador Scobey Celebrates YES Egyptian Students سفيرة الولايات المتحدة تحتفل بالطلبة المصريين المشاركين فى برنامج التبادل الشبابى والدراسى

Cairo – Today, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Margaret Scobey held a reception for Egyptian youth who will participate in this year’s Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program and their families. Present were alumni of the YES program and staff and volunteers from American Field Service (AFS) Egypt. The YES participants who were selected come from ten governorates in Egypt.

In addressing the students, the Ambassador said that the year ahead would broaden their understanding of the world as well as promote better understanding between Egyptians and Americans. Every day they spend in the U.S. will provide opportunities for them to learn more about the American people, and for the Americans to learn more about Egyptian history and culture.

Established in 2002, the YES program is part of the youth exchange programs supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The programs are committed to empowering the future generation and establishing long-lasting ties between the United States and other countries, with the aim to promote mutual understanding through listening and respect, as well as leadership development. YES provides scholarships for secondary school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend up to one academic year in the United States. Students in the program learn about America, leadership, and community service.
