Ambassador Francis Ricciardone and the American Embassy in Cairo would like to express our deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Walid Mohamed Sha'lan, the Egyptian researcher who was among the 32 people killed at Virginia Tech University. Americans and Egyptians are shocked and saddened by these tragic killings that took place in a center of learning. Our hearts go out to Mr. Sha'alan's family and friends and to all of the victims of this terrible incident.
