The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo is pleased to announce a new initiative to facilitate business visas for member companies. The program, called the Business Visa Program (BVP), will provide expedited visa interviews at specified times for employees of member companies intending to travel to the United States for a legitimate business purpose.
Any company that is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt or which employs at least 50 people may apply for inclusion into the Business Visa Program. Once a company is accepted into the BVP, company employees may come to the Embassy on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 8-10am for their visa interview. An exclusive time slot has been fixed on Monday afternoons from 1-3pm for qualifying company employees residing 50 kilometers or more outside of downtown Cairo. All applicants must come to the Embassy with an original cover letter from their company.
In order to participate in the program, please identify an officer of your organization to act as a signatory on behalf of your company and return a completed application and sample cover letter to U.S. Embassy Cairo’s Consular Section for our reference. If your organization will have more than one signatory, please provide the relevant information for both the principal and back-up signatories.
Enclosed is detailed information about the program. Please note that getting an interview through the Business Visa Program does not automatically qualify an employee for a visa. Companies that fail to adhere strictly to BVP requirements will have their membership suspended or terminated.
The point of contact for this program is Rob Doyle. He may be contacted by phone at 2797-2599 or via E-mail at ConsularCairoBVP@state.gov. Please do not hesitate to contact him if you have any questions.
We think this new program will benefit your organization and help facilitate business travel to the United States. We look forward to welcoming member companies into our new Business Visa Program.
Sincerely,
Roberto Powers
U.S. Consul General
