القاهرة – استقبلت السفيرة الأمريكية مارجريت سكوبي اليوم خمس طالبات بالصف السادس بمدرسة مصر للغات واللاتي أتين لتقديم باقة ورد وخطاب تهنئة للرئيس المنتخب باراك أوباما على فوزه في الانتخابات الرئاسية الأمريكية التي عقدت يوم 4 نوفمبر. رافقت الطالبات كل من الأستاذة وئام شبانه مديرة المدرسة والدكتورة عليا حبشي رئيس العلاقات الخارجية للرابطة المصرية لحماية الأم والطفل. اصطحبت السفيرة سكوبي الطالبات ومديرة المدرسة في جولة بمقر إقامتها وشرحت لهن مدلول القطع الفنية الأمريكية المعروضة. ثم ناقشت السفيرة مع الطالبات تاريخ الانتخابات الأمريكية وكيف أن الرئيس المنتخب لديه طفلتين في نفس مرحلتهن الدراسية.

في خطابهم إلى الرئيس المنتخب أوباما، كتب الطلبة: "أنت أملنا في المستقبل. إننا نقدرك لأنك جعلتنا نؤمن بأن التغيير ممكن وأننا بإمكاننا وقف الحرب وصنع السلام وجعل مجتمعنا أكثر أمنا، كما أن بإمكاننا اكتشاف الجديد ووقف الاحتباس الحراري وجعل العالم مكانا أفضل، والأهم من ذلك أنك قد شجعتنا على العمل الجاد حتى يمكننا المشاركة في تنمية بلدنا العزيز مصر." شكرت السفيرة سكوبي الطالبات على رسالتهن الطيبة وقالت إن من الأمور التي يؤمن بها الأمريكيون هي أن أمريكا لازالت أرض الفرص، فبإمكان المرء أن ينجح بغض النظر عن خلفيته إذا كانت لديه فكرة جيدة وعمل جاد.

تعد مدرسة مصر للغات مؤسسة تعليمية معترف بها محليا ودوليا، وهي تخدم المجتمع المصري منذ عام 1985 حيث تقدم الفرص المتكافئة لجميع الطلبة لتلقي العلم مع اكتساب فهم أفضل للمسئولية والمجتمع والامتياز. وتعد الرابطة المصرية لحماية الأم والطفل منظمة تعمل بالشراكة مع مؤسسة الرعاية المتكاملة ومكتبات مبارك العامة.

Cairo – Today, Ambassador Scobey received five students from grade six of the Misr Language School who came to deliver flowers and a congratulatory letter to President-elect Barack Obama on his victory in the U.S. presidential elections held November 4. Accompanying the children was the principal of the school Ms. Weam Shabana and Dr. Aleya Habashy, the Head of External Relations for the Egyptian Association for Protection of Mother and Children. Ambassador Scobey gave the students and their principal a tour of her residence and explained the meaning of the artwork from American artists that are on display. The Ambassador and the students then discussed the historic nature of the election as well as the fact that the President-elect has two children of his own who are nearly at the same level in school.

In their letter to President-elect Obama the students wrote, “You are our hope for the future, we look up to you as you make us believe that change is possible and that we can stop war and make peace, we can make our community more safe, we can explore and discover new things, we can stop global warming, we can make the world a better place, and finally and most importantly you inspire us to work hard so we can share in the development of our dear country Egypt.” Ambassador Scobey thanked the students for their kind message and told them that “One of the things Americans believe is that it is still a land of opportunity. No matter what your background, if you have a good idea and work hard, you can succeed.”

The Misr Language School is an internationally and locally accredited education institution that has been serving the Egyptian community since 1985 dedicated to providing all students with an equal opportunity to pursue their education, while gaining a better understanding of responsibility, community and privilege. The Egyptian Association for Protection of Mother and Children is an organization that partners with the Integrated Care Society and the Mubarak Public Libraries.
