القاهرة – مصر – بحضور سيادة محافظ القليوبية السيد الوزير المستشار عدلى حسين وسفيرة الولايات المتحدة بمصر السيدة مارجريت سكوبى، أعلنت اليوم مبادرة المرأة الواحدة - وهى شراكة بين القطاع الخاص والقطاع العام مع الحكومة الأمريكية ، فى احتفال أقيم بالقليوبية أن الجمعية المصرية للتنمية البشرية والبيئية EAHED) ) قد تلقت منحة قدرها 95.000 دولار أمريكى لمشروع مبادرة العدالة الذى يقوم بتدريب القيادات النسائية ورفع الوعى عن حقوق المرأة الدستورية وتشجيع المشاركة السياسية للمرأة.

هذه المنحة سوف تعزز الجهود المتواصلة التى تبذلها الجمعية لتوفير المساواة فى الحصول على العدالة من خلال إطلاعهم على حقوقهم، كما قالت كارلى فيورينا رئيسة مبادرة المرأة الواحدة. "إن تمكين المرأة للمشاركة السياسية والإجتماعية والاقتصادية سيكون له أثر إيجابى دائم على أسرهن ومجتمعاتهن".

هذا المشروع الذى يمتدد لمدة 18 شهرا يستهدف تحديدا منطقتين فى مصر هما: بنها وطوخ بمحافظة القليوبية. وعند إتمام المشروع فإن أموال المنحة ستكون قد قامت بتدريب 3.000 مواطنا مصريا فى مجال حقوق المرأة، وإجراء 20 ندوة عن حقوق المرأة، وتدريب 100 سيدة على إجراء البرامج الخاصة بالتوعية عن حقوق المرأة. تستخدم أموال المشروع أيضا فى تعزيز المشاركة السياسية للمرأة من خلال تدريبهن للترشيح للمناصب القيادية فى المجالس المحلية، ومساعدة 2.000 سيدة فى إستخراج بطاقات الرقم القومى مما يتيح لهن الحصول على الخدمات الاساسية والتصويت.

"إن مبادرة المرأة الواحدة هى مثال على حيوية الشراكة بين القطاعين العام والخاص والتى تفخر الحكومة الأمريكية أن تكون جزءا منها" قالت السفيرة سكوبى. "هذا الاستثمار فى المرأة المصرية سيعزز المجتمعات المحلية من خلال توسيع العدالة والفرص".

إن مبادرة المرأة الواحدة التى بدأت فى مايو عام 2008، تمثل صندوق دولى لتمكين المرأة تدار من قبل جهود القطاع العام والخاص والتى تضم الحزبين الرئيسيين المشاركين ووزارة الخارجية الامريكية والوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية. توفر مبادرة المرأة الواحدة بذور استثمارية للمنظمات الأهلية التى أثبتت قدرتها على تمكين المرأة الملموس من العدالة وتكافؤ الفرص فى البلدان النامية.

Cairo, Egypt— With the attendance of the Governor of Qalyoubia, Counselor Adly Hussein and the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Margaret Scobey, the OneWoman Initiative, a public-private partnership with the U.S. Government, announced today in a celebration held in Qalyoubia, that the Egyptian Association for Human and Environmental Development (EAHED) received a $95,000 grant for a Justice Initiative project that will provide leadership training for women, raise awareness about women’s constitutional rights and encourage women’s political participation.

“This grant will bolster the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide equal access to justice by educating them on their rights,” said Carly Fiorina, Chair of the OneWoman Initiative. “Empowering women to participate politically, socially, and economically will have an everlasting positive impact upon their families and communities.”

The 18 month project will specifically target two regions in Egypt, Banha and Toukh in the Qalyoubia governorate. Upon the project’s completion, grant funds will train 3,000 Egyptian citizens in women’s rights, conduct 20 symposiums on women’s rights, and train 100 women to conduct their own women’s rights awareness programs. Project funds will also promote women’s political participation by training them to run for leadership positions on local councils and assisting 2,000 women to obtain ID cards allowing them to access basic services and to vote.

“The OneWoman Initiative exemplifies a dynamic public-private partnership that the U.S. government is proud to be a part of,” said Ambassador Scobey. “This investment in the women of Egypt will strengthen local communities through the expansion of justice and opportunity.”

The OneWoman Initiative, launched in May 2008, is an international women’s empowerment fund administered by a public-private sector effort that includes bipartisan private sector co-chairs, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The OneWoman Initiative provides seed investment to existing grassroots organizations with the proven capacity to measurably enable justice, opportunity and leadership for women in developing countries.
